Hey, about that design your own doll outfit contest in the 90's...I was always confused about that. I think I was like 11 or so when I read about it in the catalog and I sent in my entries right away. But I got a letter back syaing soemthing like, "We're sorry, but we don't accept specific outfit designs from customers, however we will keep your ideas on file and may use them as inspiration for future outfits" or soemthing like that. I was confused but I just thought they decided not to hold the contest after all. So there actually was a contest with real winners? I wonder my entry wasn't accepted then? After all I was in their target age at the time and I remember I did mail my entry to the address they listed for the contest. I wonder what happened?
THe fun for girls site often asks questions that are un related to AGs( what is your favorite candy??). I would like to see them show a sketch of an outfit and ask us to vote ob which of their color choices we prefer.
Breyer horses often asks for ides or hasw votes about prodeucts.

I'm pretty sure it said something like "Thank you for your submissions! While we enjoyed everything you sent, we are unable to use what you've said at this time, but we hope you enjoyed creating the outfits." Something to that effect. I also have to wonder if they decided NOT to pick winners, I would think the catalogue would reward those who won by saying "This outfit was created by Cindy G of Arkansas" or something. And my outfits were reallllly cute, so I think they would have picked one if they were going to follow through with the idea, [img]wink.gif[/img]
Because I've still got 10 minutes until I have to leave, one of my Holiday 1995 catalogues has the request in it, "More Gear for your American Girl! Help design the outfits and accessories that you want for your American Girl of Today. Send your ideas and drawings to: Pleasant Company (address). Submissions become property of Pleasant Company." This was when the AGTS first came out, and there's only four additional outfits. It's very possible they thought they wouldn't be able to come up with stuff, but that changed, lol.
There was also a contest to design an outfit for Josefina right after she came out (before the switchover was totally complete) unfortunately, once it switched over to Mattel, the contest was cancelled. I sent in a FANTASTIC outfit. I still have the drawing, they sent it back 'cause the contest was cancelled.
I would enter that. It would be fun.
They should do that for a new historic doll too. That would be awesome.

It was me who posted a very similar idea here before, and everyone said that AG would never do it because it would be too expensive!

I like everyone's ideas on this but my mom and I came up with a tomboy girl, and I love the idea of Kaya length red-hair with deep blonde highlights. And she would have a pet rabbit/bunny with a cage and pet accessories even! That's be so cool since I have guinea pigs and would aprreciate AG's span of items to small sized ones. And she would be very into volunteering, such as at the Humane Society, which is where she found her precious bunny, Soffee, etc. And I figured out a sport, though I don't care much for the outfit--VOLLEYBALL!

How neat would it be if AG had a contest among club members or something, and they had to draw a doll and name her. The winner's doll would be made and a real author would write her book. The winner would of course get her doll for free, and would be invited to talk about her idea at the launch party at an AGP! I think that way, girls would REALLY feel like the LE dolls were "just like them"
